Not public
At LeanScale I rebuilt the operations admin for a driver platform: not the public site, the tool the team behind it works in all day. The new one is built on TanStack Start and React, and it replaced a frontend that had collected years of technical debt.
Why rebuild instead of patch
An admin like this is where the business actually runs. Every slow page, every form that accepts bad data, every screen that breaks on a laptop costs someone time, many times a day. Past a point, patching the old frontend only added to the debt, so the honest fix was a rebuild on a foundation that could carry the next few years.
What changed
1
Technical debt
A fresh codebase on TanStack Start and React, with the old workarounds left behind.
2
Validation
Stricter checks on what goes in, so bad data is stopped at the form, not found later.
3
Responsiveness
A UI that holds up on any screen the team works from.
4
Performance
Faster pages for a tool that is open all day.
The four things the rebuild set out to fix, in the order people notice them.
Built for a full working day
The goal under all of it was the experience of the people using it. An operations team does the same tasks hundreds of times a week, so small frictions add up fast. The rebuild made those everyday flows clearer and quicker, and made the tool much nicer to spend a working day in.
This was client work at LeanScale, so the code is not public and the client is not named.
